The theme of the UN International Day of Older Persons 2017 is “Stepping into the Future: Tapping the Talents, Contributions and Participation of Older Persons in Society.”

This is an international event organised by the Independent Expert on the Enjoyment of all Human Rights by Older Persons, Rosa Kornfeld-Matte.
On 5th October the National Human Rights Commission and the Dave Omokaro Foundation will hold an event to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for the purpose of collaboration to set and effectively facilitate the work of an Open Ended Working Group for Rights of Older Persons in Nigeria.
This Working Group will bring together the various stakeholders committed to furthering the rights of older people and work to identify gaps in the national protection of older people’s rights and propose solutions, including through international instruments.
The event will also mark the International Day of Older Persons 2017.
This free webinar is being hosted by the Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Elder Law and the West Coast Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund.
The webinar will be held on 5th October from 13:00-14:00 EDT.
