The Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons, Rosa Kornfeld-Matte, will present her report on the first day of the session. The Independent Expert’s reports from this year are available here in all six official UN languages:

The UNESCAP Asia-Pacific Intergovernmental Meeting on the Third Review and Appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing will be held from 12 to 14 September 2017 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.

The event aims to share information on policies to respond to population ageing not only in Europe and Asia but also among the United Nations (UN) and international community, and discuss measures to further develop policies. In particular, the Conference would like to identify measures to link plans and goals, such as the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (2002-2022) and Sustainable Development Goals (2016-2030) with human rights of older persons and discuss detailed and practical measures to enhance international cooperation.
GAROP will be represented at this event by our Co-chair Ken Bluestone and a number of GAROP members will be in attendance.
The UNECE Ministerial Conference on Ageing on the 3rd review of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA) will take place in Lisbon from 21st-22nd September. A civil society forum and a research forum will precede the Ministerial Conference on 20 September 2017.
