On 3rd February GAROP held its latest webinar in the series organised in partnership with the International Federation on Ageing.

The webinar focused on the difference that a UN convention will make for older people and for governments, particularly in the context of COVID-19. It also covered updates about the Open-ended Working Group on Ageing process and the preparations for the 11th session due to take place on 29th March-1st April. It emphasised the importance of national advocacy work and provides examples of what NGOs do now at national level to advocate for a UN convention in the run-up to the session. Speakers included Amal Abou Rafeh of UNDESA, Craig Mokhiber of the OHCHR and Naraidoo Gava Naraidoo of DIS-MOI, Mauritius.
